A new species, Xanthopenthes tandeli n. sp., in reported from Maharashtra. The species differs from X. werneri SCHEMMEL by longer and slender body, darker colour, longer antennae and from of the adeagus and from X. bartolozzi SCHEMMEL by larger body, longer second antennomere, longer antennae and the form of the adeagus. Both male and female of the species were collected from moist deciduous forest 150 km south of Mumbai. This is probably the first species reported from Western Ghats.
