In our tropical oceans, within about 25 degrees north and south latitudes, a temperature difference of about 20¼ ⁰C exists between the waters at the surface of the ocean and at a depth of 1,000 m or so. The process of harnessing the energy due to this temperature difference is called Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC). OTEC is an untapped, non-polluting, renewable energy source, which is appropriate for an energy starved nation like India. This method is capital intensive but the unit cost comes down drastically with higher rating plant and improvement in technology. This paper describes an outlook and a trend of the new OTEC technologies spreading rapidly now in the world.Item Data Warehouse and Data Mining(VPM's Polytechnic, 2011-04-08) Tendulkar, RutujaItem DATA WAREHOUSE ARCHITCTURE AND DATA ANALYSIS TECHNIQUES(2013-10-01T04:25:25Z) Khachane, VaishaliA data warehouse is an architectural construct of an information system that provides users with current and historical decision support information that is hard to access or present in traditional operational systems. It is also an integrated set of products that enable the extraction and transformation of operational data to be loaded into a database for end-user analysis and reporting. It usually contains historical data derived from transaction data, but it includes data from other sources. It separates analysis workload from transaction workload and enables an organization to consolidate data from several sources. This paper presents concept of data warehousing, architecture of data warehouse and techniques of data analysis in data warehousing. Query and reporting, multidimensional, analysis, and data mining run the spectrum of being analyst driven to analyst assisted to data driven. Because of this spectrum, each of the data analysis methods affects data modeling.Item EMPLOYABILITY THROUGH IT(VPM's Polytechnic, 2011-04-06) Nayak, Dileepkumar K.; Mohite-Patil, Tushar V.Item Energy of future – Hydrogen(VPM's Polytechnic, 2011-04-08) Nayak, Dileepkumar K.; Raghavan, UshaItem ETHICS IN PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION FOR TEACHERS(VPM's Polytechnic, 2011-04-06) Nayak, Dileepkumar K.; Ingawale, Geetali S.Item Evaluation of Opto-Electronic Properties of Semiconductor Nanomaterials(2011-10-20) Usha, RaghavanNanoscience and NanotechnologyItem Green Building civil & structural techniqunic(VPM's Polytechnic, 2011-04-08) Pujare, GautamiItem Grid and Distributed Networks to handle mammoth tasks(2013-10-01T04:30:46Z) KAMATH, RADHIKATo analyze huge data sets instantaneously, run scenarios thousands of times, to get the results after operations always faster, accurate, with an increase in productivity the super computers can be used. But what if the same mammoth tasks can be achieved through the IT components the user already own? Mainframes, servers, databases, storage systems, desktop computers and workstations can be pulled together to realize this power of a super computer, through Grid and Distributed Computing. Grid provides a collection of servers, clients and other resources often working collectively together to solve a problem. Much of Grid and distributed software technology addresses the issues of resource scheduling, quality of service, fault tolerance, decentralized control and security and so on. Grids are intrinsically distributed and heterogeneous, but must be perceived by the user as a single virtual platform or environment with uniform access to the resources. The large and complex system of Grid software has to be robust, useful and provide an interoperable collection of services that support large-scale distributed computing and data management. Perspective of this paper provides a comprehensive look at the state of the art and best practices for wide areas of Grid and Distributed Computing.Item Hydrogen Storage in Amine Borane Complexes(Vidya Prasarak Mandal, Thane, 2012-11-02) Nayak, D.K.; Mahajan, S.K.; Mangalvedekar, H.A.Hydrogen has been projected for its potential to be an environmentally clean and efficient alternative energy carrier. Transition from carbon-based economy to hydrogen economy is crucial for hydrogen-based applications. Viable hydrogen storage system is a critical bottleneck in the development owing to volumetric and gravimetric issues for solid-state storage.Item Hydrogen A promising Renewable Fuel(Vidya Prasarak Mandal, Thane, 2012-11-02) Nayak, D.K.; Raghavan, UshaHydrogen as an everyday fuel is indeed a revolution in science. Though the discovery of its use is considered a breakthrough, its cost effectiveness is yet to be ascertained.Item Hyperthermia Therapy in Cancer Treatment(2013-10-01T04:33:54Z) PAWAR, POOJA; JOSHI, MUGDHAHyperthermia is a type of cancer treatment in which body tissue is exposed to high temperatures (up to 42°C) to damage and kill cancer cells. Hyperthermia is almost always used with other forms of cancer therapy, such as radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Several methods of hyperthermia are currently under study, including local, regional, and whole-body hyperthermia. Many clinical trials (research studies) are being conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of hyperthermia The aim of this paper is to study the role of hyperthermia therapy in cancer treatment and to study the contribution of this therapy in minimizing the side effects of other treatments for cancer patients.Item IMPACT OF GLOBALIZATION & IT REVOLUTION ON TECHNICAL EDUCATION(VPM's Polytechnic, 2011-04-06) Nayak, Dileepkumar K.; Mohite-Patil, Tushar V.Item Improving Efficiency of power sectors by using GIS(VPM's Polytechnic, 2011-04-08) Vader, Nisha; Kulkarni, S.S.Electricity is universally accepted as an essential commodity for human beings. It plays an important role in overall growth and development of a nation. Efficient functioning of utility is essential to sustain the growth of power sector and economy. After passing of electricity act 2003 by the Parliament, Electricity utilities in India underwent unbundling such as GENCO, TRANSCO, and DISCO. At the time of passing this act the utilities were facing severe problems because of lack of modernization and were also incurring huge losses due to which their survival was difficult. In addition to restructuring initiatives, it is required that some latest and modern systems be utilized for improving efficiency of power sectors. GIS is a competent and effective tool for managing transmission and distribution activities. GIS can be effectively used for transmission line route alignment and managing electricity distribution facilities. It has the ability to improve upon traditional practices and hence today it has become an important aspect in power delivery.Item Initial Face of Automation “Programmable Logic Controller"(VPM's Polytechnic, 2011-04-08) Khandagale, Smita; Korhale, RuchaItem INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER THROUGH POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTIONS(VPM's Polytechnic, 2011-04-06) Nayak, Dileepkumar K.; Bhakre, V.S.Item Innovation in Technical Education through Research Based Entrepreneurship(2014-03-07T06:07:40Z) RAGHAVAN, USHAThe technical education system in the country has grown into a fairly large system in the last decade, offering opportunities to the aspiring students in a wide variety of trades and disciplines at various levels.
